Ghost
Sightings Tips
Avoid
booking your stay during "spooky" dates,
such as Halloween. The spirit world doesn't seem to know the
difference between October 31 and June 4. Choosing a more
meaningful date may make it harder for you to secure a room, and
more expensive for you to stay.

Do your homework! Research the story of the property and
the entities that haunt it before you go. Ghost-chasing is more
fun if you know what you're looking for.
Leave small children at home. Children may be unduly
frightened, meaning you'll have to stay awake handling
nightmares and soothing fears all night. Children also tend to
be ultra-sensitive to the unseen world, so even if you don't
tell them the hotel is haunted, they may see and hear things
that will confuse and frighten them. Best to leave them
home until they are old enough to handle those scary movies on
cable television without nightmares.
Find out where the ghosts hang out. There may be a
special guest room that gets more activity than others. Or
perhaps you should be in the green ballroom in the wee hours to
catch a glimpse of the netherworld. Call the hotel staff ahead
of your stay with special requests -- chances are they'll help
out if they can.
Clear Your Mind. Do not go on a ghost hunt if your mind
is preoccupied, or if your are depressed, or angry. Negative
feelings will interfere with your perception and may drive the
spirits away. Always go with an open mind. It is important that
you are respectful of the locations and the dead. Always look
for causes for any phenomenon and rule them out. You need to
eliminate all other explanations for your evidence have a
stronger proof. Remember no one should drink alcohol or take
drugs. This will block your perception and your credibility.
If
you are using a recorder, remain silent, no whispering, this
would make any recording not factual. Remember do not wear
perfume, cologne, or fragrance. You want to be able to smell
what is there. Haunted places often have odors. Sometimes you
can smell the perfume that a person wore when they were alive.
Spirits have been know to use scents and smells to get our
attention.

DEFINITIONS:
Angel: "Messenger
of God," a celestial being, benevolent in nature and if
visable, appearing in human form, and possessing miraculous
abilities such as teleportation, healing powers and knowledge of
future events. There have been accounts of angels aiding people
in times of crisis throughout the ages, albeit with no real
consistency to their 'modus operandi.'
Demon: Hostile and resentful entity, supposedly of
non-human origin, which some believe to be "fallen (from
grace) angels."
Doppelganger:
German for "Double-goer."
A person's duplicate or identical counterpart, seen as a result
of bi-locational or astral travel. This phenomenon has been
overshadowed by the more modern (and viable) concept of cloning,
with its speculative ramifications.
Ghost:
The image of a person
witnessed after his/her death, reflecting the appearance of the
living, physical body yet less substantial. These forms often
seem to exist in a dream-like state of semi-awareness, at times
though not always cognizant of their human observers.
